The Power of Eating Raw
At Julian Graves, we firmly believe in the power of eating foods in their natural state. Foods like nutritious nuts and seeds and delicious dried fruit not only taste great, they are some of the healthiest foods around.
Introducing more raw foods into your diet has many positive effects such as
- speedy weight loss
- increased energy (the body expends less energy on digesting raw food so it generally feels more alert)
- a cleaner system free from toxins
- greater mental clarity and focus
- improved appearance of skin, hair and nails
- reduced risk of heart disease
- many of our eat raw products are low & medium Gi rated
In her Channel 4 TV series, You are what you eat, most of Gillian McKeith's punchy dietary advice revolved around eating nuts, seeds and sprouted grains, beans and pulses.
At Julian Graves, our raw food list includes:
Nuts – almonds, brazils, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, peanuts, pecans, pistachios, pine nuts, walnuts
Seeds – linseeds (also known as flaxseeds), sunflower, pumpkin
Sprouted grains, beans & pulses – quinoa, chickpeas, lentils, mung beans, aduki beans, pot barley
Dried fruits – apricots, currants, raisins, sultanas, dates, figs

Good Fats
These fats are vital for the growth and development of every single cell in our bodies. Without sufficient quantities, we can’t achieve optimum health, physically or mentally. But our bodies can’t make good fats so we have to get them from food such as nuts and seeds.
Gi Eating
Many of the raw foods we sell rank low and medium on the Glycaemic Index (Gi).
Eating low to medium Gi foods can also help reduce cholesterol levels, keep the immune system strong and can aid weight loss because you are less tempted to snack on fatty foods between meals.
Raw nuts and seeds, dried lentils, some dried fruits and some grains such quinoa, oats, chickpeas and pot barley are all low Gi foods.

Interesting anecdote
Eating a totally raw food diet is the latest big thing in Hollywood among A-list celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Demi Moore, Sting and Donna Daran. Actor Woody Harrelson has gone one stage further by opening a raw food restaurant there.
Healthy Living
